Britney Spears – Teen Pop Star Gone Wild
Britney Spears was born on the 2nd of December in Mississippi USA. She reached fame after starting her career as one of the child actors in the Mickey Mouse Club (with Justin Timberlake) and has reached the top of the worldwide music charts numerous times. With sales of over 75 million records all over the world she is the eight best selling singer in American history with sales of over 30 million albums in the USA alone.
Britney’s career in music started with hits such as “…Baby One More Time”, and songs like “Oops!… I Did It Again” and the more mature “I’m a Slave 4 U”. She has won a Grammy award and her latest album is supposed to be released in the USA in November 2007.
Britney Spears is reportedly worth over $150,000,000. She makes much of this money from her music career, such as album sales, as well as endorsements, movies, and tv shows.
Britney married a dancer called Kevin Federline. This second marriage produced two children, Sean Preston and Jayden James. During the marriage she put her singing on hold and eventually the marriage resulted in a divorce in 2007. The marriage was riddled with drug and alcohol abuse by Federline (according to Spears) and Kevin was seen out and about in town nearly every single night during the last months of the marriage.
After the divorce it was reported that Britney would pay Kevin a whopping $19 million – but this soon proved to be a bit too good to be true for Federline. He only ended up walking away from the deal with $1 million – less than %1 of what Britney Spears is worth.
Currently Britney is enjoying a lot of press but not for a good reason. After the marriage she experienced a public meltdown of her profile. During the divorce proceedings she was seen drunk and possibly under the influence of drugs and going out with friend Paris Hilton. It appeared that she was not spending any time with her kids and this led to a public questioning of her parenting skills.
During her last public performance as a singer at the VMA Awards in 2007 Britney seemed incoherent. She stumbled across the stage and did not bother with any of the dance moves that she had been studying for a week. According to many music industry professionals this may haven been the final blow to her music career.

Pop $13.98 No matter which way you look at it, Pop doesn’t have the same shock of the new that Achtung Baby delivered on first listen. Less experimental and more song-oriented than Zooropa, Pop attempts to sell the glitzy rush of techno to an audience weaned on arena rock. And that audience includes U2 themselves. While they never sound like they don’t believe in what they’re doing, they still remove most of the radical elements of electronic dance, which is evident to anyone with just a passing knowledge of the Chemical Brothers and Underworld. To a new listener, Pop has flashes of surprise — particularly on the rampaging “Mofo” — but underneath the surface, U2 rely on anthemic rockers and ballads. “Discotheque” might be a little clumsy, but “Staring at the Sun” shimmers with synthesizers borrowed from Massive Attack and a Noel Gallagher chorus. Similarly, “Do You Feel Loved” and “If You Wear That Velvet Dress” fuse old-fashioned U2 dynamism with a keen sense of the cool eroticism that makes trip-hop so alluring. Problems arise when the group tries to go for conventional rock songs, some of which are symptomatic of the return of U2′s crusade for salvation. Pop is inflected with the desire for a higher power to save the world from its jaded spiral of decay and immorality, which is why the group’s embrace of dance music never seems joyous — instead of providing an intoxicating rush of gloss and glamour, it functions as a backdrop for a plea of salvation. Achtung Baby also was a comment on the numbing isolation of modern culture, but it made sweeping statements through personal observations; Pop makes sweeping statements through sweeping observations. The difference is what makes Pop an easy record to admire, but a hard one to love. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music GuidePerformers: Larry Mullen, Jr. – Loops, Percussion; Howie B – Keyboards, Turntables; Bono – Guitar, Vocals; Adam Clayton – Guitar (Bass); Marius de Vries – Keyboards; The Edge – Guitar, Keyboards, Organ, Vocals; Flood – Keyboards; Steve Osborne – Keyboards |
