Please compare contrast Industries Vs Christian music Pop / AC Music? For singer-songwriters?
I recently started listening to music Christian and I have been taking into account the "switching" from secular writing I do to write "Contemporary Christian" pop. What Some references would be good for me to learn more about the DC music industry? Does more or less the same as the secular industry? Are there * signed * and independent artists? (If so, examples of good name of the DC indie artists, please)? I would probably be more interested in becoming an artist independent, irrespective of gender, although I have a pretty good idea of what it takes to become a secular, independent artist. What would be the differences should I switch back? The books, websites, or advice of people who have real answers to my questions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
The Christian music industry and the secular music industry are very similar. I guess if it would be easier to find an audience in the industry secular music. A major difference however is that the music stops. Christian music is to praise God as the secular industry could be about absolutely anything. Another difference is the heart behind the artists. Their main purpose is to praise God through music and bring people a better understanding of who God is. I disagree with the use of the church as a means to launch into the Christian music industry. Not sure where your heart is, but I search would suggest to make sure they are going for the right reason. So in the end the main difference is the Christian music industry is really about praising God.

Ducktales The Movie: Treasure Of The Lost Lamp (Disney Movietoons Presents) [VHS] $9.99 Another of Disney’s efforts to create a quickie animated feature film out of one of its daily TV shows, this one plays like a low-rent reworking of Aladdin. Still, with Scrooge McDuck (voiced by Alan Young) and nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie, there’s fun to be had. And that includes the genie (voiced by comic Rip Taylor) and the villains voiced by Christopher Lloyd and Richard Libertini. The plot … |

Twice the Speed of Life $4.98 A surprise hit in 2004 and 2005, this Atlanta-based threesome arrived on the scene at precisely the right time–when country trios (Dixie Chicks, Rascal Flatts, and to a lesser extent, Trick Pony and SheDaisy) had proved themselves in the marketplace. Like those acts, Sugarland trade on solid and sometimes intricate harmonies and a killer lead vocalist. In this case, the full-tilt Jennifer Nettles… |

This Is Pop $26.98 A range of genres, rooted in local impulses, reaching global audiences; a main prop of commercial culture and an art form open to aspirants and fans from every background: About the vast and diverse topic of pop, scholars and critics, journalists and musicians have much to say, but rarely to each other. A crossover venture begun at Seattle’s Experience Music Project, this book captures the academic and the critical, the musical and the literary in an impromptu dialogue that suggests the breadth and vitality of pop inquiry today. This Is Pop illustrates what can happen when the best of scholarship, criticism, and pop’s inherent unruliness intersect. Robert Christgau and Gary Giddins, pivotal critics, encounter Simon Frith and Robert Walser, pioneers in the study of popular music. Luc Sante and Geoffrey O’Brien write about sound with the same prose elegance they apply to noir or New York streetlife. Musicians Carrie Brownstein and Sarah Dougher, both active in the riot grrl and rock scenes of the Pacific Northwest, examine how audience responses affect their craft. John Darnielle, of the Mountain Goats and the idiosyncratic zine Last Plane to Jakarta, attends to the web postings of hair metal fans. From film tracks to Merle Travis, from Ray Davies to rock infighting, from indie poetry to the Carly Simon Principle of pop sincerity, this book reflects the welter of ambition, style, and meaning that draw us to pop in the first place. The result is a collection as cluttered with treasures as a good music store. |

Pop Music in British Cinema $28.98 Pop music stars in many of the most exciting and successful British films–from Performance to Trainspotting, from A Hard Day’s Night to Human Traffic. Other films using pop music might be more obscure but include many demonstrating a boldness and imagination rarely matched in other areas of British cinema. Pop artists (David Bowie, Cliff Richard, Spice Girls, Patsy Kensit, Sex Pistols) could be said to be captured at their most iconic on celluloid. And of course there are the rare but prized cameos from a huge variety of other musicians and their songs in the most unexpected of places. This book tells the story and records the facts of the pop-film relationship decade by decade. It is the most systematic guide to where and how pop appears in British cinema.Pop in British Cinema includes:* Decade by decade commentary and systematic listings of films with pop music* Comprehensive referencing of all British feature films using music from the 50s to the end of the century* Illustrations and descriptions of the changing ways of using pop in British film * Listings of "band" movies and indexes to musicians, directors, and film titlesFor researchers and the curious alike this is an easy and fascinating reference source. It represents both a first history of pop music in British cinema and a mine of trivia questions for music and film buffs of all descriptions. |
